Default Return to electrical!

Hi everyone,
I just registered and am looking forward to a long association with you all.
I am in Australia Victoria. I am still currently working in a mechanical field. I have given notice and will be returning to full time electrical. I have enjoyed testing pumps and doing civil projects but electrical feels like home.

When I see this Aussie stereo typing I have to have an ironic chuckle. There is an old stereotype that in Australia we don't have footpaths and Kangaroos hop down the street. Shortly after moving from Melbourne to Castlemaine (a smallish but significant town in central Victoria) I was arriving home late one night (in a car, the Ox was sick!) and there were some Kangaroos hoping down the footpath (pavement) and what's more the footpath is just compressed earth/clay stone!

We have an excellent coffee roasting business in the town. I said to the owners, who are Austrian, that if they ever export to the USA they should label the product as 'Made in Australia by Austrians' just to perpetuate the stereotype of errant geography and confuse our American friends!

What would be really sad is if no one sees the joke at first

Down here we were very amused when the US media reported that the Governor of California was an Australian!

I joke with my Austrialiian buddy that I want to go to Melbourne so I can try a Koala burger, or some bbq roo ribs. Although after syaing it 20 or 30 times I am the only one who laughs now.

Australians don't come from Austria, they hail from OZ.
