Default Rangehood operation by remote switch

Hello,

I've been asked to meet ADA (American Disability Act) requirements to provide a switch, remote from the rangehood so that a person with accessiblity issues would be able to operate the rangehood.

I cannot find a rangehood supplier whose models are rated for remote wiring via a switch. I do not want to void the warranty and CSA/ULC ratings of the rangehood by re-wiring the control panel remotely. Only option is a rangehood with remote control.

I could not find any reference in the CEC, which would not approve installation of a rated toggle type light switch between the rangehood and its breaker. I'd appreciate if I could have your comments/suggestions, if such an installation would violate any CEC codes.

Thank you.

There is not CEC rule regarding a switch before an exhaust fan, so you are not prevented from doing it.
Users will have no control over speed, and light, so you will not pass ADA requirements.

Broan has rangehoods with remote control, a bit more expensive but wil get you to comply with ADA.
