Default Zone 1 splice

Hello done some work in zone I building and some splices were made in gb rated box which is good for that zone. The splice was done with a twist maratte in the gb box. The inspector says that you can not do a splice with these in that zone. The splice should be done with something rated for that ex. Compression splice.
Question: What rule or info is there for use of marratte or say were it says to use compression splice in this zone.
Thx

If your inspector says you can't use a marrette in a Zone 1 area, ask them for a code reference. Then please post. I'd be more than curious to see it, since there's got to be millions of marrettes used in Zone 1 areas.. lmao!

If he is trying to tell you your marretted isn't explosion proof, he may be right. That's why it's in an approved box.

Is the splice made in a fitting that is intended for sealing?
