Post Reporting A Post

When you come across a post that looks like spam or obviously violates our community guidelines, it helps our moderator team if you take a moment to report it. To report a post simply click on the exclamation point icon seen on the lower left hand corner of every post. A new window will open asking you to fill out the reason for the report.

Things To Keep In Mind
  • Please do not post a reply to spam within a thread as it leaves more posts for us to remove.
  • If you see a series of spam posted by a single member, it is not necessary to report every post. Simply ask us to check all posts (by that member) within your report.
  • Reporting a post does not automatically mean that moderator action will be taken in regards to the post itself. It only means that we will take a look at the post to determine if action should be taken.

What does it mean if we have not taken action on your report?

We see and take action on every single report in a timely fashion. There are times though that our decision is to take no action. Why? It may be that we simply do not feel that the post crosses the line in violating our rules, or that we have chosen to take care of it in a different manner, such as posting our own comments in the thread. Unfortunately, it can be very subjective at times, especially when it comes to reports concerning low quality posts.

Does this action (or inaction) mean our decisions are always correct? Nope, it means nothing more than we have made a decision. We are human and do make mistakes, but we do the very best that we can.

Why don't we notify you of the action we have taken when you report a post?

The number one reason is time. We receive a lot of reports every single day and it simply is not feasible to reply to every report as it would take too much time away from taking care of the next report, and above all from doing what we feel we do best, leading by example to build a better community for our members.

Additionally, it comes down to privacy. You wouldn't like it too much if we told others that you had received an infraction for making a mistake, right?

That being said, we do try to take time to say thank you now and then to our regular reporters. We truly appreciate those who do make reports, as it makes our job so much easier!

This is an FAQ tutorial thread. If you have additional questions or need help with this topic, please start a new thread in our Site Help and Suggestions section.
