My understanding of the California law requiring an employer to offer a non-mandatory lunch break of 1/2 hr during a standard 8 hr. work shift is that our electricians do not have to take this lunch break and consequently are working a 7-1/2 day. Am I wrong to think this effects productivity by essentially not giving the electrician the "fuel or break" he/she may need to sustain a high and fast pace throughout the day? I catch the fact that those who opt to not take a lunch seem to "graze" from their lunch box throughout the day which I argue is slowing up production and essentially eats up at least a 1/2 hour because of multiple trips to the truck or gang box to grab a "quick snack" and eat while working. To me it's not as simple as demanding a uniformed rule to take a lunch break and assume all is well with that company policy. I've worked in the field enough amongst the Rank and File to know that this may cause problems with attitude, production, moral. Any thoughts?

Customer wants us to install a UPS for his IT Rack and some work stations. I'm figuring a 30 KVA 3-phase 208 volt UPS with battery back up @ 3-5 hours. Can anyone tell me if there is anything more that i should be considering beyond intercepting the power source from the MSB/MCB to the electrical panel from which the IT Rack and work station circuits are fed and taking it to the UPS and then from the UPS to the panel? Besides grounding I can't think of anything else i should consider. Do the UPS systems typically come equipped with everything needed from the factory?

I'm figuring a 30KVA 3-phase 208 volt UPS with battery back up @ 3-5 hours and a external connection source to additional batteries to provide up to 8 hours of back up power. Can anyone tell me if there is anything more that I should consider beyond intercepting the source power from MSB/MCB to the electrical panel from which the IT Rack and workstations are fed via branch circuits and taking it to the UPS and then back out again? Do these UPS's generally come from the factory equipped with everything required to automatically transfer the loads when power loss detected?
