Hi 99 Cents. Found you via "Residential Kitchen 3 wire ccts"
Can't reply to post, it's old.
I wanted to reply with this question.
I have a single split recept at a counter top in an older home.
I would like to add an another recept, I understand that I can 3 Wire off that recept to a new split recept and not have GFCI. Old Stablok panel so no GFCI until I do a panel change.
Looking at the code and not yet calling on an electrician as I do my design I wonder.
Could not a duplex outlet be run on black and white (Phase 1 of 15 Amp) and
then Red bypasses over to a 2nd duplex outlet with the common white brought over there. (Phase 2 of 15 Amp breaker via 12/2)
That config runs the risk of the same load as 2 separate splits.
The circuit could then run 2 different GFCI at the outlets. One on each Phase.
To me that satisfies the safety of GFCI near water allows max 2 outlets per phase.
