    I pulled a 1-phase (squirrel cage?) motor from a whole house fan. The shaft spins freely without power. When power is applied, the shaft sort of pulls in an 1/8" (like solenoid action?) and can't be turned. There is a 10uF / 370V capacitor on the outside of the case. It looks OK. I was...
