Last couple of hot tubs I've done have been sitting on the ground and close to either the house, or a building containing a subfeed panel. In those cases I ran 6/3NMB into the back of a local disconnect mounted on the house or building and #6CU in PVC underground to the spa control panel.
Does anyone know the article number in NEC that says the current ratting for the Jacuzzi GFI disconnect is supposed to be greater than or equal to the current rating of the feed breaker in the service panel?
680.43(A)(3) comes close but I don't think it is what I'm looking for.
I'm searching for reasons why I have spa jets working, but when heater comes on it trips breaker (60 amps)? Changed 3 Pole Contactor, still tripping breaker.
Also, hooked up directly to 110 volt outside outlet, still tripped GFI breaker, any other scenarios?
