With a 240v irrigation pump at the lake can you tap one leg and pull a neutral to feed a gfci outlet? If you know the section of the code that prohibits it that would be a big help. Also is there a minimum distance from the lake for the ground fault outlet? I would like to read the code section on that also if it is prohibited. thanks Dan

Article 682 - Natural and Artificially Made Bodies Of Water
the only distance requirement is 12" above the dock, or not withing 24" of the electrical datum plane.
thanks for the ariticle #

I didn't see any minimum for a pump or general purpose outlet in section 682. I was checking 2002 code and that article isn't in there. I'm in Mich and we haven't moved to 2005 yet. how about taping off the240 hot and ground with a neutral, legal? thanks Dan

What sort of electrical work do you typically do? How long have you been in the trade?
