More than it would cost to do directional boring unless you are installing a duct bank.So i need to trench about 125 feet over blacktop . Whats a ball park price to hire a crew to do that work..? Cut the blacktop and trench then backfill and re asphalt..
Good points. We did one where we cut the blacktop with a rented walk behind wet saw and had a road construction company working on the next site over pull up the blacktop, dig, backfill, tamp and re-blacktop. Looking back we probably should have subbed it all out. I don't remember prices but we saved by finding the guys next door. It's going to be easiest for them to cut the trench 2-3 wide so they can get a couple lifts on it and set it properly. I don't think any paving crews are running anymore this year though, they're all out pushing snow

x 2 .More than it would cost to do directional boring unless you are installing a duct bank.
They will have to saw cut the edges, haul away the old stuff and then lay down new asphalt.
Everything is by the square foot and sometimes the saw cuts, x2 = 250' are separate.
I would allow $250 for the saw cuts
$250 for clean up
3' wide x 125' = 375 x $10 sf
$4,250
Could be less than 1/2 that if you can wait for a crew coming back from another job.
Some jobs That I think are going to cost a lot end up being like $800.
Others that I think are going to be cheap, cost twice that.
Friggin paver guys are like electricians.![]()
Around here it used to be around $10 to $14 a foot. Now I get it done for $5 to $7.$20ish a foot
Here, it's going to be $300 to cut it and $600 to patch and $900 to dig, backfill and haul off the debris.
If I could get it bored for $1K, I'd go that route because trenching sucks.
I've only used boring one time, in a landscaped residential easement setting and I think it was about $3K for about 100'
So you think 6 grand is a safe number..? I have to go from an outdoor transformer about 100 feet then chuck a left and to the meter pan.More than it would cost to do directional boring unless you are installing a duct bank.

Dont you have snow to plow or something...
$5-$7 is pretty cheap. I paid $10 this last spring before I bought my rig. It's the way to go. No mess.Around here it used to be around $10 to $14 a foot. Now I get it done for $5 to $7.
How does someone make money at that rate? Even with a kick ass 2 man crew, it wouldn't get done in a day.$5-$7 is pretty cheap. I paid $10 this last spring before I bought my rig. It's the way to go. No mess.

The dump fees here often cost more than the repair material so that has to be at least $300 at cost (12" wide cut). That leaves under $1K for labor and some very expensive tools (saw cutter, trencher, truck to haul the asphalt in and out and a plate compactor).
