I'm looking for tips on pricing jobs.... I get the concept of $xx per outlet/switch. I'm trying to stay competitive and am wondering what rates I should be using for outlet/switch, light fixtures, and homeruns. I very curious how others price their homeruns. Any feedback is appreciated.

First you need to ad up all of your costs to run your business ad that to your desired salary .$100,000 per year should be a good start, take all of your costs and ad them to that number, take that grand total and divide by 1,000 for service work and 1,500 for new construction and remodeling .

That number is what your charging per billable hour.

Take all of your stock and ad your mark up,such as 20%.

If your at the point of starting your own show then you should have a good idea how long each task will take including set up and brake down.

Take the number of hours a job should take ad that to the cost of your stock with your mark up and you should have a grand total price to do the job.

Write up a description of the work and put the Grand Total at the bottom of your quote and have the client sign it.

I don't price the homerun individually. I use an average of all the jobs I've done in the past.
Every job is different.. why would you use an average when you can use a hard number associated to the job you are pricing..:blink:
