I Have Always Wanted to Have a Neighbor Just Like YOU...........
Recently trouble shot - actually walked away from - doing a job for a friend. He refused to let me correct it, so I let him find someone else to do the work.
A large farmhouse (they own a Christmas tree ranch) with a guest house separated by about 50 yards. Halfway in between, smack-dab(Google it, youngsters) in the middle of the asphalt driveway , sits a Redwood well over 100 ' tall, with a security light about 30' up, installed umpteen years ago, that stopped working. One wire from each house to said light, with cracked and exposed copper and what remains of the cloth and rubber insulation. There is no messenger wire. As the tree grew, it pulled each wire taut, till one or more of the flying splices failed, thus they called their best pal.
The hot is pulled from the main house, the neutral from the guest house, the classic California three-way, from the 1940's. It lasted this long, why on earth would they need me to re-do it better? Besides, that could get into some real money, as much as several hundred dollars or so in materials.
My labor would have been a Christmas gift, but their insistence that I Southern Engineer it means that I had to leave a lump of coal in their millionaire stockings
