I have a situation where the interior panel cover for the breakers does not fit over the main breaker. As you can see in the picture the breaker would probably fit with some trimming or cutting off and adding a piece of cover to fit. Is it within the code to modify a panel enclosure if it covers al the areas and has the right spacing. It seems all I would have to do is cut off the area around the breaker around the handle. I guess what I am asking is it ok to modify a panel to fit breakers. I am in Afghanistan and a contractor is telling me that he will have to replace the whole panel because of code restrictions. I know myself that I have cut and trimmed to fit breakers in enclosures and this is no different. Just want an opinion.

I run into alot of redo's because the original contractor left a mess. Getting a new panel is a big hassel. Its just funny how this cover showed up but the panel was there already and no breaker was changed and it did not fit over the main. Its a Turkish breaker and panel.

Most probably that will have to happen now that the contractor is quoting hundreds of dollars for a new breaker to fit the panel hole, absurd, the ware house will never be used and the power will be turned off for the building anyway.

If there will be no Americans in there, I say cut it, then make all circuits a MWBC on individual breakers, remove all GFCIs and bond the neutral/grounds in all sub panels!:jester:
Then put an Abdul's electrical company sticker on it!
