Hello. I'm planning on taking the california certification exam (general electrician) in the spring. I possess my state of Vermont jw licence and Clark County Nevada jw licence. How do you best prepare for the exam? The exam is based on what year nec? What study aids are most helpfull (books etc) ? Thanks in advance.

I just took the test yesterday and they are using the 2008 code book.A good book to get is:Electricians Exam Preparation Guide by C. Dale Brickner.
The book is written based on a few different code books so be sure to get the 2008 prep guide. The best part about this book is that it has a CD that has 13 chapter tests with all the answers and code references. It also has timed practice tests or study tests. It helped me a lot to be able to find things quickly.

Yeah, I was pretty surprised about the Cali test. I had taken the NH test 8 months earlier and the NH test was on the 2011, the Cali was on 2008 and had NO math questions. Just straight code questions. I think I got a 90 and took about 45 min on the test. I am pretty good at testing, but was worried because I was hungover as hell.
