I was wondering if the load on the new device that you are using 14 AWG wire for never exceeds 15 amps, then would that mean it is okay to use 14 AWG wire on a 20 amp circuit? It would never be the case that the current within the new wire would exceed 15 amps, so there is no need for any protection from overloading. Is my thinking right on this?
