I ordered a Hunter Jetty ceiling fan for installation in our outdoor pergola.
Jetty Outdoor 52 inch

The fan comes with only a wall switch (knob) and my plan is to not install the switch and install a universal fan remote control kit. I read some questions asked by others about adding a remote and Hunter's response is that a remote kit cannot be used with this fan, only the includes wall control will work.

I'm trying to find answers as to why that would be the case. In looking at the fan's manual it is wired like any other standard ceiling fan, and it has room for a remote module under the canopy. The motor is AC.

Can anyone think of a reason as to why a universal remote kit would not work on this fan? I feel like Hunter just says this because it doesn't come with a remote and they want to avoid extra support...

TIA

I don't think it will be an issue unless the fans amp draw is larger than the modules are rated.
