Hi Guys,

I'm presently working at a large industrial company as a 2nd Class Power Engineer. Thinking about taking pre employment electrical at college next fall while I'm still working shift to become eligible to write off my first block for Industrial Electrician. Once I have the 1 year program and my first block I will be eligible to take a posting as an apprentice within the company.

The only down fall of this plan is the loss in wages while in school for 10 months and the reduced rate during my apprenticeship. Once I have the full electrical ticket, my wage will be the same as I am making now, but I will be off shiftwork and not stuck on my ass infront of control panel for 12 hours/day for the rest of my career.

Hopefully I'm not making a mistake. Worst case is I hate it, stick it out for 4 years then I have both a steam ticket and electrical ticket.

Welcome to the forum. Times are tough but knowing a trade, IMO is priceless.
