Do you use generic trims like All-Pro or strictly name brand like Halo? I just used some ERT 704 eyeballs and they seemed a little sloppy. The ERT 707 aren't exactly white but the prices on both are like 1/3 to 1/2 of a Halo trim.

I generally stay with the brand name but I am one of the few who do that at my supply company. I had to make them stock the 30 WAT trims again as they decided not to keep them. BS-- they got them back for me...

I'm tired of trying to convince HO's, GC' and Archy's of the attributes of good quality internals. Iirc, my personal best back in the McMansion heydays here was nearly 100 decent cans billed out @ $80 each (no trim or element) :thumbsup:

Those days are gone, go to HD and pick out what you wish, no warranty no problem, and no i don't want to talk about it.....

Had this today, ordered 8 OnQ brushplates for a job by name. The counter person, trying to save me money, gave me no namers at about a $2 savings per. I do not posess the words to express how much I hate those $.99 no name brush plates They take 4X the time to install and they look like shift.

We are hardly using standard trims and lamps at all, everyone wants LED retrofits. We are getting Sylvanias for $24 each at the lighting supply:

Joe - How do you like them? I am a fan of the Cree/Ecosmart one. No gimbals but I am ok with that.

I like them a lot. We dim them with Lutron CL's, they dim great. Have not had a customer yet that doesn't love them.
We are right smack in the midst of a major change in lighting, I wouldn't advise anyone to stock up on products as everything is changing so fast.
The time is here to quit installing yesterdays lighting.

What's the difference between buying Halo Mexican junk and Chinese knock-off junk? As long as the client doesn't say, "It's the wrong color of white", I'm okay with it.

I don't think I have ever used the words "Halo" and "quality" in the same sentence unless the sentence also included the words "lack of".

At that price they're competitive with the new PAR 30's coupled with an eyeball.
