I am going to run a sub panel for a detached addition. 1 and 1/4 pipe pvc pipe for underground feeds. That allows for 2-2-4-6 copper for a 125 panel correct? I'm asking cause I have had an inspector give me trouble before referring to the code book and saying it is not allowed because there is not enough 240va demand in an addition.

This one will only have one water heater and 2 - 1.5k convection heaters . Am I in the clear and if so how do I challenge a reduced neutral quarrel ?

I've never had an issue dropping the neutral one or two sizes, the inspectors over here have never even brought it up.

If they did, I'd point them to 220.61 and show them a load calc if it came down to it.

Max kw consumed simultaneously would maybe be 14,000? At the most. So like 6o amps if dryer, hw, heat and ac were all going at same time.
