I know that coxial cable that run parrell to current carrying conductors for more that 24 inches are to be separated by 2 inches. My question is what if the coxail cable crossing the over the current carrying conductors perpindicular? This is in a retirement home and the nurse call cables also run together.:001_huh:

Coxial cable

Does space have to be maintianed if the wires are perpinducular to current carrying conductors.

the idea with the not close when parallel but can touch when perpendicular has to do with the possibility of inducing currents. If side by side, the affect is much greater and the distance run close together is directly related to the amount of current induced. Running them across each other tends to have such little affect that it is typically allowed.

I would still avoid any high current cables or fluorescent or HID lights althogether though. They can cause problems just by being close at all.
