Recently I sold (4) alarm systems in buildings that were getting upgraded.....

I used to use DSC... butt switched to NAPCO... then tried VISTA 20P....

The VISTA panels were a total waste of time... too much programming for me to get it up and running...

So I purchased (4) DSC 1832 Power Panels... set one up on my desk to pre-program and one less thing to do at the job site......

They don't make it easy... this job had (4) keypads and each one had to be a separate address...

I called Tech Support a few times for help and finally got someone who spoke good English and gave me the number of a "teacher" who walks you through the process.....

This guy was gold... had the patience and know how to get me programed.. ready to go...

DSC did a really smart move... if you guys are looking for a good company to work with ... DSC is a great place to start...

Vista panels are cake to program. They are ready out of the box.
I had trouble with the keypads... even their tech support could not get them up and running...

So I returned the parts to SH instead....

They are easier to program with a laptop but I programmed a whole system with a keypad. What problem did you have? :001_huh:
Don't remember exactly... but even all the programming for the zone definitions was more than I wanted to do...

Once you learn it, it's easy. It took me some time and it was a pain because I had no idea what I was doing , but I'm glad I went through the trouble because now I understand that system. If you're used to working with one system I get why it would be difficult.

I sold a bunch of the DCS 2550 when they were in style... EZ panel to install and troubleshoot over the phone...

When TYCO bought out DSC... it was the first panel line the killed.. :censored::censored:

People who have that system in their house find is easy to use and they are not "intimidated" pushing buttons...

You have to enable them in programming then address them. The problem is, you have to have an Alpha Numeric keypad to do this.

I carry one with me just because of this.

This thread makes me laugh a little.
Oh man I agree!
All the Vistas that are out there and only certain ones do this function and these don't do this and none are the same to program or use the same areas like 00 is a master code in some and 20 is the installer code.

You have to have three books to install the damn things and another one to use them.
