I have an EC License and I pay for insurance as well, Some time other electricians want me to pull permits for service upgrade and rehabs, My question is how much should I charge for an electrical permit in Chicago? If I do happen to do the favor to get the permit, Is my responsibility wish means I will go check the work a few times as the project progress and for the inspections also.

Why would you ever do this? It is against the rules here.

It is also illegal here and in no way worth it. If they are qualified to do the work, they can get their own license.

You can lose everything you have going that direction.

I would avoid it completely, unless you have some of your own paid employees on site from start to finish. Even if you're compensated well, and things go poorly it's your name that the inspector will remember. I did read it was illegal here too, but I can't give you a direct reference.

You are being taken advantage of. No big deal right now, but if someone goes after you and your insurance, you might think different...

..or...

..charge them a six pack of beer.

Not only is it illegal ,you can be held liable if anything goes wrong.

I have sub contract the project to someone else but don't worry I will pay you to inspected ones is all done, then one the work was done It was a nightmare all types of violations I mean it was a mess poor electrical work. so at the end the inspector tag every single thing that was wrong.

You let a GC and electrical side jobber F you over, then called in an inspection before checking it out? Sorry man, but if you continue, you get what's coming.

This is a new year! Turn it around for yourself and turn these guys down with some honor.

Now this inspector has this mess on your record and could make a stink with your electrical board, showing them pictures of "YOUR WORK" and they could revoke your license based on what they see,and you'll have no defense because you lent them your license.....

You should become a well compensated employee of the company you pull the permit for.

After all the good advice given, if you continue down this path, you are a fool. I hope you are not a fool.

It is also against the law here.
