A customer of mine, runs a manufacturing company. He would like to add several machines to his operation. He gave me the horsepower and KVA's to most of the equipment and he wants to know the "electricity usage".

Does this mean he wants to know how many amps will be used and if he can add it to what he currently has at his electrical service.

I figured the FLA on each unit with 125% continuous duty, added them up and came up with 180amps. Does this mean he would have to add another 200 amp service?

Why are you asking us what he means? You will need to figure kw and the time he is running them and multiply that by the kWh charge from the power company. If he's not worried about the consumption, and simply worried about his service, you need to do an NEC load calculation and compare that to his service.

Does he want to know what he can add to his existing service?

Does he want to know what it will cost to run the new equipment?

On a serious note, the suppliers of the equipment would have the specs for him on the energy usage of the new equipment. I would guess he wants to know if his current service will be adequate or if he is going to need to upgrade.
