Installing T5 warehouse lighting. Each row of 9 fixtures will be on its own 20A, 277V circuit. I contemplated multiwire circuits but the single pole GHQ breakers we are using are only straight rated at 277V. I understand that handle ties can only be applied to slash rated breakers as they may have to interrupt a 480V overcurrent. I bid it for individual neutrals anyway so no big deal.
Every third or fourth row will have 3 night lights with emergency ballasts. For ease of testing I intend to pull a switched hot for these from the panel where I will install wall switches with locking plates.
I was going to pull a red as the switch leg but am concerned that the inspector may not like it. There is also a 208Y/120 service in the building.
Should I just trade it in for pink or purple? Or just run the same color as the unswitched phase and mark the switched leg with a label?
I'm leaning toward pink or purple for ease of identification.
Also, I we have all white for the neutral. I know it's not a code violation but would you trade that for gray or just use the white?
Thanks,
Scott
