So today we submitted a revised estimate for an installation in NYC for a 100A vehicle car charger for a a High profile client personally referred to us by the car company, a month an a half ago we submitted our initial estimate of $7500 that includes design of drawings for the installation, 50' 1-1/4" EMT run 2 100A Disconnects, wiring etc... fast forward 2 weeks ago we get the submitted package with engineers comments and pretty much said that the installation does not meet requirements, on their comments they specified and recommend the use of EXPLOSION proof!!!! disconnects, use #2AWG instead of #3, use GRC instead of EMT pretty much changing the entire work procedure, We submitted our revised estimate today for the total sum of $21180, Disconnects alone were $4500 each. Well we advised the client manager to be prepare for the change, he has no choice to go ahead with the installation since he already has the car, I will wait for the engineers response now that we submitted what they requested and also to get the OK from the client manager.
But $4500 per each Disco? Seriously? I am sure this person will not have an issue paying the tab, He is worth an estimated $500,000,000:thumbup:

Amazing what Engineers and Architects do with someone elses $.

Bethany Frankel and Robert Deniro live in the same building:rolleyes:

Uh, is someone mistakenly thinking a parking garage requires explosion-proof wiring methods? Sounds like someone also thinks recharging a car requires a 100a receptacle. I've only seen one - on a theatrical dimmerpack.

There are options to charge the car at other amperage setting, We provided our estimate based on what the customer bought to have installed not what was offered. We shall wait and see.

Sounds awesome. I don't see an issue. I know this engineer is crazy but at least his bull is putting money into your pocket. I usually have to whine and cry about how freaking hack they are around here. They wouldn't know a safe NEC install if they found one in bed with thier wife.

Were the plug and receptacles rated for a classified area?

Are there gases being discharged from the battery charging?

What does the manufacturer recommend?

Is this a Tesla?
