I think it's 20'. !0 feet closed up. Anyway I always fall off when my head hits 17 feet so for the last year I limit this old body to fixtures, etc. at 16 foot off the floor.

Hate extension ladders... unless the bottom is firmly wedged against my truck. They will outlaw them one day.

I think 24' is the optimal height for electricians.

I already had a 20', so instead of getting a 24' I jumped up to 28' for a second ladder. I think a 20' and 28' is a great combination. 20' could get to most things that I need and it's easy to handle. The 28' comes out when there is high work.

A 20' footer will fit inside a normal(full) sized van, with the doors shut, only carry it as needed, the rest of the time it sits behind the shop with the others.I also own a 28' footer, but haven't used it since I bought a bucket truck. Most of the time I only need a 4' step, but I own a 6',8,' and a 10' foot steps, all but the 4'footer sit most of the time.Buying the bucket truck minimizes my love/hate relationship with gravity!

A year ago i got vertigo pretty bad and couldnt barely drive for about a month or better. Ever since then i try to avoid tall ladders because every now and then something triggers it.
As a SCUBA diver, I can relate to vertigo. I had it once while diving. Thankfully hitting the surface made it go away. People don't realize how bad it screws you up. Did you lose weight from being sick?
