Home owner had an " electrician" mount some ceiling lights before I came to start remod. Old home so they used wire channel tracking on the walls which I've seen used but when mounting lights he put them on top of tracking and left the lights with 1/2 inch gap all the way around with insulation hanging out. He told homeowner that they "had " to be that way for code ????????? Any input fellas. I think he should come back and do it right.

That's what I usually do and he made comment I'm not a master electrician over the phone he basically got lazy and did not want to notch them properly or want to come back another day . Hate it when guys like that rip off homeowner that has no idea about home remodeling. Looks like crap so I will fix it for them to keep them from hating all contractors. In my opinion he ripped them off .
