I want to try targeted direct mailers again. But this time I'd like to have a pro make up the flyer to try and avoid it being thrown directly into the garbage with the other junk mail.

Can anyone recommend a service that could help with this? The goal is for them to make something flashy enough for the customer to look at it and worded well enough to get them interested.

yes a systematic approach is the right way to do advertise, some sort of system over time at least
I made another thread about this when I sent out the last mailers.

There is a development by me that was built in 1959, 240 houses that:

-Have a 55 year old FPE panel.
-Most houses have no main breaker. 6 throws originally, but now they have 10-12 breakers.
-60A or 100A on houses large enough that we would normally have 100A or 200A.
-SE cable feeding them, the sheath is just about gone, you can see the metal strands.

You would think these would be an easy sell. If I could get some type of advertisement to educate the customer a bit, something that they actually browse thru, it should get me at least a couple of sales out of 240 houses.

Not an easy sell. Maybe you'll find some neurotic who stays awake at night worrying about electricity but that's not my kind of customer.

Why not find some small time GC's or is that a dirty word?

That give me a idea, send them a single pole breaker with your card, to heavy and bulky to throw in garbage with out taking a look

I've had people call for service upgrades for much lesser reasons, some of them are downright silly. I'm surprised why some people want the upgrade and I will tell some of them that it's really not necessary, but they want it. So I figured maybe the danger of older FPE mixed with the other downfalls might spark a few leads.

It's just really slow and I really hate to kill myself before getting my van fully outfitted and used a couple times so I am looking for other avenues.

Dammit. Okay, then don't kill yourself :) .

ummm...where do you put your ladders?
Standing up against the center of the partition will be a Little Giant 22. Standing against the right side of the partition will be a 4' and above it a 2'.

The Little Giant takes the place of a 6' thru 10' ladder. Since it doesn't have spreaders, it's really great for straddling a big bush or something like that. It's also really great for using on steps, I just changed out a light that I wouldn't have been able to get to without it. It also works as a 22' extension ladder, altho I'll only use that for quick things like changing out a bulb or a quick fixture. When I need an extension ladder for real work like a service change, I will slide my 20' fiberglass extension ladder down the center on the floor since the center aisle is almost 11' between the partition and the back doors.

Post cards and other direct mail got us a response rate of 5 tenths of 1%. That's just 5 in a 1000. Some campaigns can do better, some will do worse. You need a high % close rate and a very high avg ticket to make those kinds of numbers work. Roofing, HVAC and trades that have HIGH average sales and trained salesman running the leads are typically the guys that can make post cards and other kinds of direct mail marketing pay off. Heard of very few service electricians make it work for them.
