Got an IBEW apprenticeship interview next month.
Anybody have any tips or advice? What should I wear, what can I expect to be asked, what they are looking for?

I just got an honorable discharge from the Marine Corps after 4 years. I performed electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical troubleshooting and maintenance on amphibious assault vehicles (amphibious tanks). I also have an amazing reference letter from my direct supervisor that I handed into them.

Thanks!

Well if you were going to work at a bank you might wear a tie. I don't, know, electricians work in construction. You don't have to look like a pig but some clean work type cloths should be ok.

I think strippers don't wear a lot when they interview but that's just semi related to your question.

My take on it anyway.

dress code

I always heard to dress one step above normal work attire. You will be wearing work clothes on the job. So to the interview, you probably don't need to dress up. Clean pair of decent pants, nice shirt. Tie not necessary. Take out all your piercings and cover up the tats.

Pair of khakis and a decent button down shirt. Sleeves buttoned if it's a long shirt, not rolled up. Shoes that take polish (not tennis shoes).

Sit semi straight up (but not at attention). Don't cross your legs. Hands in your lap, not on the table.

You are military. You have handled pressure. These people are not going to eat you. Just be respectful, answer the questions, ask a question if you need to, and be truthful. They already think enough of you to call you in, and they want military people that have already proven their metal. Remember, most of them have been in the same chair. They know.

Good luck.

Thanks everybody. I read some stuff that said to dress professionally, and then others said it doesn't matter, so that's why I was asking. One thing I read even said to shave
