I left the three ways like this in one of the classrooms because the teacher seemed to have an attitude. He's asked several times if the switch's can be fixed. But I say they're not broken.

These are three ways in one room with all the lights off.

Not in my house, with my US wife we have lots of US appliances,120v GPOs wired with a round ground pin,had to wire the mecs of all the light switches so up=on,down is off, cept for 3 ways, sorry 2 ways,of course.

I wire my houses so that if every 3 way or even 4 way is in the down position then all the lights will be off. It isn't hard but you do have to concentrate when doing it.

Seems to defeat the purpose but, why did you do it?
I prefer to energize circuits for the first time knowing the lights are all turned off.

I've also wired houses for blind people.... having an "all-down-is-off" system makes it easy for them to know the lights are actually off.

And before you clowns wonder why the blind need lights, first: they're required by code and second: they may have sighted children as well as visitors.

Yeah, that is critical.

Wouldn't the children and visitors know if the light is off?

Whatever makes you feel warm and fuzzy.

My job now is equivalent to running a dancing monkey act in a three ring circus. So I don't have the luxury of having everything turn out above and beyond expectation. Working and not arcing is good for the guys I get as help. Those three way switches turned out the way they did because the guy whom installed them is stupid. I just made the decision to leave them like that.

So you personally didn't install them. Some pencilneck just came up to you and said, "hey dummy fix this, chop chop". and you were like, "I ain't fixing it for you, a55hole, because #1 it ain't broken, and #2 You're an a55hole."

Nothing wrong with that, it sounded like the instructor had an attitude that could have used some adjustment though, but I digress.
