Heel Spur, or probably plantar fasciitis. <<- Met this guy a few weeks ago. Talk about looking after your body. This guy is a mean one and will stop you from working.

On the tool list, along with good boots you need Orthotic Shoe Inserts. Your feet will like you for them. I tried the drug store ones ($35). Nope.

Finally went to a Foot Dr. I think they are somewhat like Chiropractors (love them or hate them) but they have their place. Did do a scan of my feet for custom inserts ($450) but to hold me over till they arrive sold me a pair $65 shoe inserts.

That was New Years eve (day). Five days later after wearing them almost 24/7 (no more walking bare feet) I can now almost walk without limping.

You have to go to a foot doc or they don't seem to be available at the local drug store but these guys have a little plastic insert in them to fix the arch or whatever.

You can read about them here...

I was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis as well a couple of years ago. Had it for almost a year and thought it would never get better. Went to a foot doctor and he tried a couple of different things including a cordozone shot directly into my foot. It was only temporary relieve. Then he did the mold and custom insoles for my feet which was upwards of 400 dollars. I was very skeptical at first and didn't really feel a difference for the first couple of weeks. After about a month though along with wearing good boots (redwing Irish Setters with a steel shank) the pain went away. I couldn't believe it as I thought it was something I was just going to have to deal with for the rest of my life. You do have to wear them thought practically from the moment you get up till you go down.

Yeah, I wonder about the custom ones too.

The money is spent tho and I should get them in a couple of weeks so we will see. He just scanned my feet with a laser thingy. On the screen my feet with a million little pin points. Looked cool. Hope it works The Powerstep ones do supply a bit of relief.

I had plantar fascitis for years. It'd flare up on jobs where I had to do a lot of walking and stairs.

Recently I did some work supervising in china. Huge site, tons of walking in work boots. It was 43 degrees Celsius out. I thought I was screwed.

I was fine. Why?
I was drinking over a gallon of water a day because it was so hot. I discovered something that made a huge difference, by accident basically. I'm guilty of not drinking as much water. I should, generally speaking.

Now, if I notice my feet getting sore or I know I'm doing a lot of walking, I try do drink a few large glasses of water during the day, and a large glass before bed.

Seems stupid but it makes a huge difference. I used to need orthotics in everything, and needed footwear with lots of arch support. Now I wear whatever I want.

Very interesting. Seems really unorthodox, but hell I'll try anything.
