Just joined today. Will be writing for my 2nd year apprentice in a few weeks after having a few years away from the trade.

I'm from Cape Breton as well. Not much big work going on here but most of the contractors are steady. Lots of travel work out west if you are non-union.
Absolutely no local hiring going on through the union hall right now. The work that the local contractors have is just enough to keep their regular guys going.
