Congratulations you are now overhead and no loner productive! It's up to you; if you are running the service crews you should be involved of the departments’ budget.

Think of it this way what do the other guys in the shop make? How much overtime will you be looking at? If the others with relatively no responsibly make $27 and hour with overtime and you’re going to take all the headaches and get x dolloars with no overtime pay then it is not such a great offer. Figure on the amount of work involved the reputation of the person you will be answering to how much overtime you will be expected to do with no compensation and how many headaches you will recieve add these all up and set a price for them then ask for that. If that doesn't suit you try adding $0.50 for each person you would supervise and add that to your wage now and ask for that.

You could live a king in North Carolina making $60k a year.

Hell, you could buy a house down there for less than $200k.

Around here you can buy a POS for that amount and the 60k is living on a tight budget.

If he makes 27/hour now then that would translate into close to 56K before overtime after overtime he might well already be at the 60 K ask for the perks (truck, gas, oil, donuts etc...) but ask for compensation for the amount of work you will end up doing.

Any good service manager's compensation package should be tied to the profitability of his department.

I don't have a service manager, but if I did, his compensation would be 2080 x top man in department's hourly wage + 10% of department profits. He'd be fired after 2 quarters of negative profits.

What company are you looking at going to work for? $27 might be that bad in N.C..
Thats big coin down here for sure. Hey OP. What perks do you have in addition to your salary? Are you salary non-exempt or straight salary? Knowing how they operate down south, I will bet you are on straight salary. (NO OT). Right? And how many hours are you putting in? Might not be that much money after all. But at least you have a JOB!
