Is that red wire a jumper from ground screw to the neutral:blink: ?

That wire should be fine.....a little tape and its good to go:rolleyes::laughing:

The bad thing is that the circuit was pulling a continuous load (24x7) lighting. Answer I touched the metal cover ZAP!!!!!!

Could have put a gfi in. Or just grounded the outlet properly. Or did you need the extra cash.

thats what we do... install GFCI's. Way cheaper and NEC legal alternative if the HO doesnt want a rewire.

I always tried to up sell but it doesn't always work out that way.

No I pulled a new circuit with GFCI. This was a pic of what I initially saw when I took the cover plate off. Had to take a picture bc I have never saw anything like this before.
