Homerun routing, cable layots, device grouping on home runs how do you prefer to do these tasks? do you like to figure your home run routing then pull in home run cable first?
any other cable routing techniques that help you save time and money?

Like CS said, the "tree method", though I've never heard it called that.

But if you pull from the panel, you could pull 2 or 3 cables at once, to a specific area of the house, then branch them out to when you get there. A lot quicker than pulling each cable individually. Also I try and pull all 3 wires for home runs.. that alone is pulling 2 cables in one. If I don't even need that extra circuit, I often do it anyway to have a spare for future use. Homeowners always call me back to add more crap.. and it's nice to have that circuit already close to where I need it.

If it's a townhome or a multi floor house I pull from top down.

If it's an apartment I set up my wire rack in the centre of the main room and pull either way, panel to device or device to panel based on what's involves less movement.

Pull 2-4 wires at once all the time for the whole unit.
