Is there a hot-tub whip approved by NEC which can be run underground or does PVC or Rigid need to be used?

None that I know. I use pvc then convert to carflex for the last few feet.

You guys are really missing out not having Teck90 or ACWU. Up here, that is the most common way to hook up a hot tub. No conduit required!

We have our own version of Teck cable (here it's PVC coated MC cable) but it's very expensive and rarely gets used.

I'm not sure what ACWU is but I'm guessing it's some kind of direct burial wire?

Both LFNC-B and LFMC can be direct buried.

We have coated MC cable that can be DB'ed. Not as common in the states though.

ACWU stands for Armoured Cable Wet/Underground. It's like Teck, but doesn't have an inner rubber liner. It uses the same connectors.

It is also has aluminum conductors as far I can tell.
