Exactly. There's at least 3 different brands from 3 different supply houses, so it just depends on where we buy them from. Sometimes we buy 1 for the job, other times we have 5 or 6 sitting around because they were a good price.

I just finished this type of install with a bit of a difference -

200A panel upgrade
Hot tub install
Same siemens spa pack outside the no go zone
15A breaker tied into 2 receptacles on the same wall as the disconnect. All outside the danger zone

The guy leading the job checked with the poco before install and we were good to move ahead. Like I said the only real difference is we did the panel upgrade pretty much at the same time

Those Seimens spa packs are just little sub panels with an included GFCI. I've done what you proposed a couple times no problem. Nipple right from the Spa Pack to a FS box. Cheap way to get a dedicated outside receptacle if you are upgrading a panel for a spa.

Well unfortunately I couldn't get a siemens spa pack...

I used a QO spa pack, but I picked it up after I got all the material I had planned on using for the siemens spa pack, so I had to take a loss on some wire I bought... I'll have to find another job for it.

I'm never using a QO spa pack for anything over 30 amps ever again... wayyy too small.

I had originally planned for 80 amp breaker with #2 aluminum to the seimens spa pack, then #6 to the tub. QO spa pack is rated at 60 amps max, with max wire size #4. Had to hunt down a smaller breaker and reused an existing #8 romex.

This is why I don't do jobs for friends.

I have to go back in the spring to bury the cable and have a trench inspection.

Oh and the bloody QO spa pack is plastic so I had to go buy a grounding bushing for the teck. I didn't even think about it when I bought the spa pack.

Got it done though. First solo hot tub. I've done enough of them though so these are super easy. Just wish I could have gotten the Siemens spa pack.

Those Square D packs are not only dogshit but about $75 more expensive than the Siemens. Not a surprise you can't find the Siemens ones anywhere. Last tub I did it was cheaper to put the GFCI in the panel and use a disco outside vs buying the Square D pack. Didn't have to screw around with the Square D pack either

The Square D spa pack was the only thing available at the Schneider supply house... No homeline.

I can get the Square D for about half the price of a Siemens spa pack. I'd 10/10 pay the extra price for a siemens spa pack if one is available but I'm not paying the stupidly over-priced Home Depot prices.
