Hello, We just did a job ran new wiring and everything now the client is saying that when the temp outside gets over 80 the lights don't work. Anyone ever came across this issue? There are two rooms that the lights are not working they are can lights if the temp drops below 65 the lights start working again.

Thermal cut out on the lights. Just reduce the bulb wattage or switch to LED bulb.

Also being in California you prob don't have ceiling insulation so the ambient temp in the attic or ceiling may be extremely high. You may be able to reduce the heat in the light by changing it to an insulated rated reno can which may disipate the heat better. Need a little more info to troubleshoot effectively but if they are both doing it it is prob not a defect just an ambient temp issue or wattage. I believe in most pot or can lights the 50w par lamps work best. Just my opinion.

Thanks, we did switch out all of the bulbs from regular 60w to the led equivalent. the problem is happening with both incandescent and led bulbs

we did a total of 6 rooms all can lighting the problem is only happening in two of the bedrooms which is on the same circuit. All other electrical work in the rooms when the lights go out. It took us a while to figure out that the temp is what is triggering the problem. We double check the breakers and everything checks out ok.

Are these fixtures outdoor? What type bulbs are you using -- floods?

The fixtures are inside. they are using 13w led floods now. All of the lights in both rooms go out at the same time total of 8 bulbs. The other rooms work fine when these two rooms go out.

You have some connections loose somewhere between the working lights and the ones that don't.

So just to confirm all installed pot lights are the same brand and the 8 lights are on one or two circuits? Where they installed reno cans in existing drywall or new construction cans? What is in the ceiling, insulation or open air?
