Good afternoon,
I have a general question about bypassing a sensor.
I have a BMW X5 with a seat occupancy sensor that has gone bad. There are international sellers of "bypasses" that interrupt the wiring to the sensor to "trick" the computer into thinking the seat is occupied at all times. These bypasses are being sold on Ebay for $80.
The sensor has 3 wires travelling to it....a brown ground wire, a white neutral wire, and a red Kbus or cpu wire.
My question is how would I go about constructing a bypass to this faulty sensor that I can plug into the wiring harness and trick the computer into thinking the seat is occupied? What data do I need, and what electrical principles do I need to consider when making this bypass?
Thanks a lot for your help
