that is what new residential construction is.
So, if I use this price and instal 10 high hats and it takes me all day with one guy. I pay him min 1st yr apprentice rate of $15.00 which equates to about $120.00 plus material wire and cans is about let's $15.00 a can no trim is $150.00 plus a coil of romex $50.00. That's a total of $350.00 with a profit of about $100.00.
Have you lost your mind??

10 high-hats, in a 16-foot ceiling, I can see taking all day.

10 high-hats in an 8-foot ceiling? If you spend 8 hours on that you're fired.

Travel time 1hr, supply house .50hrs, setup, .50hr, layout .75, install cans .50, drill holes and lace wire .50, breaks 1hr, wiring cans 2rs, clean and pack up .50
Total: 6.25 hrs.
It's not a whole day but, it's damn close for one guy.

A first year resi guy would not be getting 15/hr in most areas You can hire a helper for 10 bucks an hour. Home depot has contractor pack cans and trim at 65.00 for 6 that is just over 10 bucks can and trim. so 8 x 10 = 80 for labor cans and trim 10 x12 = 120 so you have 200 coil of wire 45 that is a total of 245 which leaves a profit of 200.00. That is what rsi gets you it is not a high profit market.

You're wiring an entire house, not just 10 cans. Even at 6 hours, you're fired.

Come on 480!! Unless your doing a mega residential development I would say $45 a can is a great deal, when installing over 1k of them!! Any house I bid now is min of $65 a pt using standard industry practices.
