About 10 years ago Hydrogen Fuel Cells were all the talk, electricians wanted to be trained on installation and operation, these were going to save the world.
Now nothing in the press regarding these?
We have installed three or four large fuel cell units, (800 amps 3 phase @480) these ones use natural gas to make electricity and the waste heat made by them is used for heating the building.
really big download on this file: (2.5 Mb) http://www.mohegan.nsn.us/docs/Mohegan_Sun_Report_Final.pdf
but makes for some interesting reading, especially if you're a co-gen/CHP operator type like me. Mohegan Sun Casino installed fuel cells, and uses them for heating & domestic hot water production, as well as the electrical generation. From what I understand, you can baseload w/them, but they don't adapt well to rapid load changes.
What's the advantage of a natural gas fuel cell system over a natural gas co-gen? I guess I'm trying to figure out why someone would put a fuel cell in.
Methinks they're still considering cow farts up here...:001_huh:.~CS~
