ok we have well water in our yard. my dad is very very anal about the lawn. Are well pump crapped out. I am looking for a well pump that is 1hp. For a shallow well. It says its a jet pump. it has to have an 1-1/4" inlet and 1" outlet. the name on the current pump is red jacket. It doesnt matter if its the same pump. If anyone knows of any sites that may be of any help i appreciate it

They sell well pumps like that at Lowe's and Central Tractor in my area. Might check there. Your local motor shop will also stock well pumps. This isn't something you need to get online. Unless you live in BFE, there's probably 10 places within a short drive that you can pick one up. The Red Jacket pump that you have is a Cadillac model. It probably came from a plumbing supply house.
We have a GOULDS pump, a respectable brand as well.

Check with your local plumbing supply house.

I agree. Red Jacket, Goulds, and Grundfos are the top three Cadillac brands. Meyers is probably the most popular middle of the road pump. I see more of this brand than any other. The box stores sell "Water Ace" or some such thing. There's a pump for every budget.

I dont know why but i am having trouble finding places that have these pumps. the depot or lowes doesnt stock them and the plumbing supplies dont either
Grainger has alot of good stuff but none of the pumps seem to be the right one. maybe i am just being to picky
When you say that the pump crapped out, are you saying that the motor no longer turns / runs?

You can have a motor re wound.

Also with jet pumps, there is a foot valve at the bottom of the well that acts like a check valve (so that you do not loose your prime). If that goes south on you, the motor will run but not produce water.

Also there is a pump control and pressure switch. Are you sure that the pump motor is getting power?

In regards to the pumps that you have been looking at, if the input and output sizes are not right, use adapters. This shouldn't be a big thing replacing a pump. The water does not know what manufacturer the pump was made by.
My dad found a guy that rebuilt the pump for 100$ and now it runs awesome. very quiet. hancock motor in quincy, ma. they did an excellent job
