What type of electrical work do you do? Did controls for fulltime more than 12 years and part timed with family doing mostly service upgrades.
How many hours do you average a week? 50-60 with full time employer and 10 with part time.
Are you on call 24/7? I was on call for many years with the fulltime job.
What is the worst part of your line of work? Working in bad neighborhoods and dealing with homeowners.
What is the best part of your line of work? Getting out on the road and seeing new places and doing different jobs constantly, being outside often.
Do you know anything about instrumentation work? Enough to know it's capable of being boring.

How many hours do you average a week? 40 hours. Paid hourly so if I'm off, I don't get paid.
Are you on call 24/7? 24/7/365.. If I'm unavailable for holidays, out of town or whatever, I'll call our shop and have another guy come out.
What is the worst part of your line of work? Personally, I'm not a fan of the wind in our area. As for the trade, lighting repairs get monotonous.. I just finished up a deficiency list that left a bit of a sour taste in mouth with grounding. But it was all good..
What is the best part of your line of work? I love driving to work and seeing the Rocky Mountains and wildlife every day. Trade wise, it would have to be troubleshooting. Some of it definitely makes your brain work and I swear smoke sometimes comes out of my ears...
Do you know anything about instrumentation work? A bit... I've never pursued a second ticket as I think you're only going to be good at the one that you use the most. Trying to do both, and you'll be half a$$ed at both.. If I get into a jam, I've got enough friends that are Instrumentation Mechanics or Techs I can call them.
