I am looking at converting about (400) Atlite A149 cans over to LED's...

Most LED inserts have spring clips that use existing tabs inside the fixture to hold the LED assembly...

Atlite fixtures are a one piece can.. but HALO LED inserts has a fix for this...

I can remove the can and screw (2) clips onto the old housing that would hold the spring clips.....

But the fixture would not have the socket assembly "enclosed" like a Halo fixture would...

Is this code compliant...

The housing would look something like this once the fixture can is removed...

Yes they do.. but you can't put the insert inside of the Atlite can.. it looks dumb having s double lip on the soffit...

How big is the can? Halo also makes friction fits.

And I would say, definitely, if you brutalize a fixture it isn't code compliant.

I always associated Atlite as the less expensive version of Lightolier Lytecaster recessed lights

In the past I have interchanged trims and housing between the brands. :jester:
