Is it possible to run a car stereo off a 12v DC powersupply? More specifically a computer powersupply. Im pretty sure it IS possible but what is the wattage draw on one of those things? I know it isnt as much as it can output via the speakers but is it close? I have a nice powersupply that is rated at 650 watts with a bit under 80% efficency but my computer alone draws at least 375 of those watts when under stress. Although i doubt that a car battery can produce that much wattage.

Im pretty sure that the output on batteries is DC right so there shouldnt be a problem if thats the case, and im 85% that i know ill have enouh juice. Any other problems i might face?

I dont know if you guys can help me but i dont know who to ask ;)

Try the DIY website and click on forums. There you will find many forums. I joined a small engine forum a while back as I got tired of being ripped off and being treaded rudely at these small engine repairs shops in my area.
