Good day.

I'm planing to replace some of my tools, want to order some Klein and Greenlee screwdrivers (multi-bits, phillips and slotted set, terminal) from Amazon / Ebay since we do not have it in retail here.

Are modern "fresh-stock" Klein / Greenlee screwdrivers are USA made or China made or it's lottery what i get at the end?

Are there any signs or marks on tools (or on plastic wraps) which can for sure tell me that tool is USA made?

Eugene.

Klien is made in the USA, save for a few tools (multi tap for one) Greenlee is made in Taiwan for the most part.
A lot of klein is made over seas. Pliers screwdrivers are USA wrenches USA adjustable wrenches Spain terminal screwdrivers Spain levels china multi bit drivers china. Buy ideal. Made in the USA! Closing all their foreign plants to become 100% USA made.

It was info in internets that not all Klein screwdrivers are USA made, for example in comments to Klein 32558 ratchening screwdriver at Home Depot
and Amazon.

My plans was about to get Klein 32500 11-in-1, Klein 32559 6-in-1 extended-reach, Klein 612-4 terminal, Greenlee 0153-02C 7pcs set and Klein 32561 multi stubby.

I really do not worry about "lifetime warranty" stuff because i will not send tools oversea for replacement and so on. I only want to get good tool.

There are so many other brands available for handtools these days...I always liked the feel of klein pliers..but I have adapted to other brands like Channellock and Knipex. Klein's quality control stinks as of late, messy machining and crappy steel. Until I hear good things about their tools again I won't waste my time.

Edit: Channellock isnt exactly top end, but compared to Klein you get what you pay for. Not so with Klein.

I am still a pretty big klein guy although I'll admit there quality has gone down hill on certain tools. I stick with klein tools that are made in the USA. I have not had a problem with anything besides their multi screw drivers. A lot of guys really like knipex / wera and they are really nicely made but not in the us. Good luck to you!

Thank you all for information.

Yes, i also have and use Wera screwdrivers, it's common to use Wera / Wiha here (for professional use of course).
But because of it our market is full of Wera / Wiha low-cost low-quality "copies" which are looks 100% similar and even have kinda "similar" names like "Wira".
That's why i searching for non-common & non-euro-looking tools for me. And transparent handles and cushion-grip are perfect for my case.

So do i understand right that not only ratcheting but all multi-bit screwdrivers are China / Taiwan made?

About Ideal tools: not much of them are listed on Amazon / Ebay for oversea shipping. And i do not know other stores that sell tools online with oversea shipping. :icon_sad:

I still think klein is a reliable, quality tool manufacturer. I hate buying on-line, unless I have seen the tools in person. Theirs just so many crappy tool companies out there. I have been disappointed in companies like wera and ideal. Not for crappy tools exactly but for leading me to believe a tool had a larger handle or was just more rugged then what showed up on my door step. I can pick Kleins up, open them, close them and get a feel for what im purchasing. I can also take them back for 3 months with no questions asked. Gotta be worth something. However if my local supply house sold knipex and wera my bag would be full of it.

Be careful with Ideal, and what is stamped on the product. They will mark a product "Ideal Industries - Sycamore, IL", but there will be no "Made In USA" on the product. The package will say made in China, but not the product.

I don't like companies that try to mis-lead me this way, and that is why I stay away from Ideal.

Package said made in USA. They are closing all foreign plants and moving everything to USA plants. Pratt read in philly makes all their screwdrivers and nutdrivers now

Like what? Tools they make in China are clearly marked that way on package AND product. It let's me know which products to avoid.
No only on the package is it printed made in china on klein. The new tape measure doesn't say made in china on it but on the package it says it

I've had the same pair of Klein lineman's pliers since I started my apprenticeship, they are great. Their ***** aren't bad but I've gone through a pair or two of those.

Their screwdrivers suck, they dull quick. I've got one more of each type in Klein to wear out and then I'm finding something different. Their 10-in-1s really blow.
