I personally detest these type of testers, but I know some of ya all like them
I found this page out wandering around trying to find out who makes the klein testers.

Let us all take a second and think about our safety.

It’s a tool like anything else, it has it proper use and misuse. I use a Santronics Ultimate, and test before and after I test something. I use the same procedure however on all my test gear, Knopp, Simpson, and Fluke. I developed this habit on my own years ago before I even knew it was an actual thing.

They have their niche, but there is a proper way to safely use them, an idiot by us liked to call them “widow makers” the funny part was HE was the biggest of all “widow makers” he had a habit of cutting bundles of LIVE wires with other guys lineman pliers. Then would replace them with cheaper and smaller pliers. Funny enough he wouldn’t even use a non widow maker tester. The proper term I like to use is non contact or proximity checkers. Again there is a safe way to use them properly.

I had an NCVT that fell 14' from the ladder onto the cement floor, it failed to detect voltage after that.
I think they should recall those too !

Either way, I don't use them anymore.
I don't use meters now either, cause I've seen recalls on them too.

Be safe out there
