Anyone installed any LED recessed lighting in a remodel job???? I just go tasked to quote a 15 lighting fixture job that will replace existing fixtures with 4 inch recessed LED lights that are going to bed dimmable. I have no clue how much these fixtures are going to cost and would I be better off getting a remodel can light then buying the LED fixture or just buying the whole thing assembled? Thanks

What existing fixtures are you replacing?

I've done a lot of 4" LED hihats and I've just used typical 4" old work cans with LED trims.

You might want to make sure that you use a dimmer that will turn the LEDs all the way off and don't go full lumens 1/2 way up the slider.

I've had good luck and happy customers with the 4" Sylvania's from Lowes. Some people here said that they don't like them, but I didn't find anything wrong with them.

As for dimmers, I usually use Lutron Diva's.

The only one I have done so far was Halo 4" trims inside Lithonia remodel cans and Cooper dimmers. No problems. The dimmer almost went down to zero but had to be switched completely off. There was a momentary delay in start-up. I don't know if that is common or not.

Ecosmart made with Cree LEDs , fits in almost every 4 inch can I've used. And Lutron CL dimmer works great .

Lutron specifies and publishes which LEDs are compatible with their dimmers.

You may want to check into Eiko...they seem to be gaining in popularity and are at a similar price point to the Ecosmart Line. Unfortunately the Maestro Dimmer will not work with the 4" Kit, but the Diva, Ariadni, and several other Lutron Models will. Here is a Spec Sheet on the 4" Kit and Dimmer Compatibility.

I just got done with 11 e-conolight 4 inch low voltage leds on a job. Turned out pretty good. Probably not the best stuff but it does look nice.
