My name is Philip and I joined this group for several reasons, but the primary one is to see if there is anyone willing to lend me their eyes for a few minutes. I am applying to join an apprenticeship program in Salem and would really like to get some feedback on my cover letter and resume. I have developed most of the cover letter and could use some input, positive or constructive, on completeness and content. Pasted below is the blueprint I will use when applying:

To whom it may concern:
While working towards a bachelors degree I studied electrical fundamentals and found that I have a keen interest in and understanding of electrical concepts. I am very excited to have an opportunity to apply myself towards a job that I will enjoy and utilize to create my future career.

I have always been motivated when presented a problem to solve, I excel in math and work on computers and motor vehicles in my spare time. I believe this will enhance my ability to learn this job quickly. I am also very detail oriented especially when safety and regulatory requirements are involved. I have always enjoyed learning and look forward to being in a field that is constantly adapting to encompass new technologies. My current goals of starting a renewable energy business and completing my Electrical Engineering degree also align with my desire to apply for an apprenticeship within your organization.

As indicated in the enclosed resume, I have learned a variety of skills from prior employment, education and personal experience which have prepared me for work in this field:

● Understanding of electrical fundamentals and circuit operation
● Testing electrical systems and connection of circuits in electrical wiring
● Installation of limited energy wiring in new and existing structures within guidelines
● Efficiency in workplace preparation
● Compliance with, and understanding of, standard operating procedures as well as state and federal workplace and safety regulations
Add more?

Furthermore, in my current job I am required to care for materials, tools and equipment properly. I am also required to comply with my corporation's safe work habits, which meet or exceed the state and federal equipment and operation standards.

My resume and credentials are enclosed with this letter. I am hopeful that this will show that I am the right candidate for the position. Please call or email to schedule an interview or request further information.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
Philip Peterson
