Hi my names David,

I'm 3 years post trade as an Electrician. (Instrumentation & Controls)

I'm looking to find out what kind of jobs contractors and sub-contractors like doing the most, that are the easiest for their business and return high revenues at the same time.

I want to know this so I can create an online service to create leads to drive traffic to an Electrical Contractors Website and Company. With only the types of jobs and customers, they are after.

I have a passion for helping others and I want to set my business up around this idea.

Let me know what these jobs are!!!! Please give me a detailed description of why you chose your answer.

I enjoy jobs with dumb engineers that overlook BIG things and otherwise make a lot of mistakes that generate expensive change orders. Can you create a registry of careless engineers that I can follow around and bid on their work? Thanks so much, you rock!

A few other things, ideally I don't want anything outside in the cold, inside when it's nice outside, nothing especially hard on the hands or feet. Only jobs with very good cheap restaurants on site or at least within walking distance, free coffee on site and none of that powdered creamer. No porta potties; real porcelain is a human right. I'll need parking RIGHT at the curb in front of the entrance, and I don't want to use a service entrance like come kind of animal, I want to come in the one with the marble floors.

And how, exactly, would you do this?

Before you answer that, I would just like to remind you that there are many people here who are most likely far ahead of you when it comes to internet marketing, SEO, SEM, PPC, etc. so please don't blow smoke up our collective bums.

Ahh, the joys of working in malls and shopping centers. You get all those conveniences other than the curb parking. I loved working in them, meeting the girls in the stores, seemed they always coincided well with weather other than a few roof top hvac problems occasionally. Did many service calls for control system problems. Even helped a few times with the relamping crew when lead guys were out sick.

In case you weren't aware, there are tons of lead services prostituting our trade already.
What made you compare it to prostitution? Have you had bad experiences with companies like these ones?

Have any of them come from an electrical background?

What don't you like about them?

I can see you're not pleased with my post. And you're entitled to your opinion. What is it about this kind of service being offered that rubs you the wrong way?

It sounds like you've had some really bad experiences and I appreciate the honesty.

Behind all that sarcasm I actually learnt some really valuable information. So thank you.

I'm starting to realise these types of services I want to offer are triggering a bad taste in some people's mouths. So I know to make sure that when I speak to potential clients that they feel heard and that I understand their needs and wants for their business and help them see I can deliver what they want.

You may think your cheeky comments are upsetting me but they're really valuable! Keep venting! This is great insight!

All of us who try to run businesses (I say "try" because we constantly get interrupted) get 5-10 calls per day plus 50+ emails from people just like yourself who want to sell us leads, get us calls, grow our business, etc.. Every single one of them promises and swears that they are different and better than the others, that they know our field, that they will change our company. :rolleyes:

We hate them.

And now here you are, aspiring to be one of them :laughing:

I'm not here to sell you anything. I'm here to learn from you and find out your business problems and desires. And once I do I'll delete this account and get to work on creating a service using Adwords and facebook advertising to make this happen that's what I'll specialise in. If my clients want SEO, SEM, PPC I'll make sure to find other companies that are experts and give world class service for those things and introduce my clients to them and make sure they are taken care off.

Thank you for reminding me. I'll make sure to keep that in mind because I'll be contracting these people to work with me and my business. So it's a good thing they are far ahead of me. Because I'll only be hiring the best. My clients deserve nothing but the best service from my business. With real results.

There's no smoke here mate. I'm happy to be transparent and answer all your questions if you need to understand more about what I'm trying to achieve.

So basically you are going to do the exact same thing as the scammers who call us every day to sell their crap. They don't know the business themselves, they outsource it to Fiverr.com and freelancer.com people over in Pakistan and India.

The people who do this are bottom feeders, if you really do instrumentation and control work, then you are going in the wrong direction.

I don't think you understand how laughable your plan is. You don't seem to realize that even if your plan comes to fruition, you will still be the 50,000,000,000th leads company out there trying to find someone to get over on.

I have never been in business your correct. But that doesn't mean I won't succeed my friend.

I appreciate your honesty and it is really funny when you put it that way hahaha I must be crazy! But I really do aspire to be one of these businesses. And I won't stop until I have achieved this.
I learned from doing an electrical apprenticeship like yourself that if you persist and don't give up you can get the results you want. And I won't stop until I'm the best business delivering results for Electricians who own their own businesses.

I think it's great that you hate them. Because it means that when you finally do see one of these businesses delivering what they say the are going to do. And you see it getting results for sub-contractors and contractor sparkies.

It will stand out more, and you will be more likely to sign up for the services.

I only want to help "Electricians" get more customers through Adwords and facebook advertising. That will be my niche. And I won't stop until I'm the best at it. I hope one day to be able to help as many businesses as possible with this service. And get them real results. And from what your saying this is a rare thing.

I don't mind you laughing at me. It sounds like you've have had a rough time with these businesses. So I'm glad I can give you an ego boost and make you feel like the "BIG MAN".

I don't want to take time away from my clients. I'll use advertising and a great service to show electricians around the world what I'm offering instead of banging down your door or harassing your phone all day.

If I'm going to be as good as I say I'm going to be. I should be able to get you to come to me, not me chase you down.

Big Call ... I know but that's the plan mate!

I won't be calling you so no. My clients will be calling me. Because they will already have the interest to find out more about my service from my advertising I put out on the web.

I will be outsourcing the work to the same contractors over and over that I know will do the job to get my clients the results they personally tell me they want... YES, I WIL BE OUTSOURCING. Which is a very smart business move. But I'm not here to tell you how I'm going to do it. I'm hear to listen to what you would like to have these companies do for you to make you even consider paying them.

The only difference between me and the SCAMMERS is I want to see my clients get real results and growth. The only way to be successful these days is to give the customer what they want. And get them the results so they keep paying for your services. Even if some of them, spit at you at first and assume you're like everyone else. I have no actions or results yet to prove that I will achieve this so for now. I'll just have to take all these insults and abuse on the chin LIKE A ****ING CHAMPION. And gather what data I can from this Forum and then start taking action.

I'm grateful that you are trying to tell me I am heading in the wrong direction. But I'm confident that I can stand on my own two feet and take care of this on my own. I appreciate your concerns, though.

Thank you for insulting me and making fun of me. I'm learning a lot about the things NOT to do. I guess I'll start at number 50,000,000,000 and work my way slowly to the number 1 service company for Electricians.

If you need to vent more or abuse me and make fun of my goals, please go right ahead as you are feeding me free insights into how I can improve this service.

You're helping me grow a thicker skin so keep them coming! Invite your friends as well to join in on your fun. It will help me learn more about what you guys hate about these services even faster.
